Mr. Stickels asked how long it would be before the residents would have <br />to pay the bill. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec said this particular project would be paid for in 1982. <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich said once the city accepts the projects, signs the <br />contract, an assessment is pending and the owners would have to pay it. <br /> <br />Ms. Elaine Doroff, 15341 Xeon St. N.W. <br /> <br />Ms. Doroff asked how the project wo~ld affect taxes. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec said the City Assessor adds $1,000 to the value of the house <br />and the tax on it would be about $2.00. Mayor Gamec said he had a friend <br />who couldn't sell his house because of dirt roads and when they blacktopped, <br />he sold his house right away. <br /> <br />Councilman Sorteberg said a person might get a 3% increase in taxes. <br /> <br />Ms. Paula Roy, 6791 - 154th Lane N.W. <br /> <br />Ms. Roy asked if the blacktopping goes through ~if the cost would have to carry <br />over a 10-year period. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec said it is set up on an individual unit basis. <br /> <br />Mr. Reiter asked about a stop sign on 154th and Zirconium. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec said the city has currently put up 80 stop signs and is following <br />street standards on stop signs. The city spent approximately $10,000 on signing. <br /> <br />Ms. Lucille Baker, 6812 - 154th Lane N.W. <br /> <br />Ms. Baker said no one stops there~when coming up High Point. <br /> <br />Councilman Cox said the city should review that issue later in the meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec said the city hasn't found any increase or decrease in speed <br />because of blacktopping. He said a citizen should get a speeders name and <br />license number and they will get a letter from the city's Police Department. <br /> <br />A vote was taken of the residents present. 31 residents voted. 21 voted for <br />and 10 voted against the project. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilman Mickelson and seconded by Councilman Sorteberg to close <br />the p~lic hearing. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting yes-Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Sorteberg, Mickelson and <br />Cox.
