Motion carried. Voting yes-Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Sorteberg, Reimann,
Mickelson and Cox. Voting no-None.

Mayor Gamec asked if the City should put up a sign on Highway 47 & Industry Blvd.
giving directions to City Hall.

City Administrator Schnelle said the City should put up the normal green
Highway sign with the population on it that the State recognizes. He
said people don't know where Ramsey is, but they know where Andover is.
because Andover has the green sign.

City Administrator Schnelle said there is light industry in the B-1
zoning area along Highway 10. He said back in the township days, they
didn't restrict to B-1 use out there and now there is light industry
there. He said the council made a policy in the past year where a grocery
store could be put in an industrial area, but industry couldn't be put
in a B-1 zoning area.

Councilman Cox said he didn't think the City should encourage business
that would promote high volume of traffic in that area.

City Administrator Schnelle said the alternative would be to come up
with light industry zoning there, then to come up with what the council
would want in that zoning.

Councilman Sorteberg asked if the council wants the City to be a place
where people can zip through or a place where people can shop. He
said he thought Industrial Boulevard was the city's prime development
area.

City Administrator Schnelle said the B-1 zoning there is creating a paper
monster. A lot of those businesses out there are not B-1. The zoning
ordinance creates a problem.

Motion by Councilman Reimann and seconded by Councilman Sorteberg to
looking into changing B-1 zoning on Highway l0 from Ramsey Boulevard
to Sunfish Lake Boulevard.

Motion carried. Rambler).

City Administrator Schnelle said he thought the zoning ordinance change
should be done at the regular council meetings. He said all of
the discussions and actions taken were done at the special meetings.

A public hearing on Housing Sizes was set for the regular council
meeting of October 8, 1980.

SPECIAL COUNCIL
October 15, 1980
Page 6
