Councilman Cox noted they said there would be no hazardous waste <br />disposal sites in the Southeast. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec commented that they know they will get less problems in <br />outlying areas than in metropolitan areas. <br /> <br />City Administrator Schnelle said there are 'many people in the County <br />depending on wells. <br /> <br />Councilman Reimann said he thought they should be more responsible <br />when manufacturing their chemicals. <br /> <br />Councilman Cox said there have been numerous amounts of applications <br />from businesses to the PCA to incinerate themselves or whatever. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec suggested taking the resolution #80-60 incorporating <br />the needs of Ramsey and the benefits that would be derived by Ramsey <br />for helping with core city waste to both meetings, one at Bunker <br />Park Activity Center on December ~:.4, 1980 and one at the Metro Council <br />on December 4, 1980. He thought the resolution spelled out the <br />council's feelings very well. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilman Mickelson and seconded by Councilman Cox to <br />forward Resolution #80-60 and letter to the WaSte Management Board. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting yes-Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Sorteberg, Reimann, <br />Mickelson and Cox. Voting no-None. <br /> <br />15. U. S. Census Report for City of Ramsey <br /> <br />It was noted th~ a letSerfrom the U.S. Census Bureau showed Ramsey's <br />population at 10,084 for a preliminary count. <br /> <br />16. Reimbursement Problems on Federal Sign~rant <br /> <br />It was noted that the City can't be reimbursed through the grant program <br />because it did not remove the "Watch Out for Children" signs and <br />"Slow Children Playing" signs. $4,423.69 is the reimbursement figure. <br /> <br />The consensus of the council was to direct Street Superintendent Mevisson <br />to take the signs down. <br /> <br />17. Purchase of League of City Building <br /> <br />City Administrator Schnelle said the City has used the League of Cities <br />and has benefitted by it. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec said it is going to C[OSt them more to continue paying rent <br />for the building they are in so they want to build a new building. <br />Mainly, it is to save costs in the long run. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilman Mickelson and seconded by Councilman Sorteberg to <br />approve the City's share of $5,5?0 for the proposed building progu~am <br />for League of Minnesota Cities. <br /> <br />Motion carried.
