Page 3 <br />Public Hearing <br />January 29~ 1979 <br /> <br />City Engineer Raatikka stated we get the funds every year and after 3~ to <br />4 years the City would be penalized if they didn't use all the funds. <br /> <br />Mr. Del Howe stated the position of the Council is to do what the people <br />elected them to do and the general feeling is to vote against the project. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated they do act on what people want and are always looking <br />out for the betterment of the residents. <br /> <br />Mr. Terry Mox, 16550 Yolite asked about the tonnage on the bridge over Trott <br />Broo!~ and if the bridge would be rebuilt. <br /> <br />City Engineer Raatikka stated they would improve the bridge too. <br /> <br />Mr. Terry Mox stated they have no choice but to drive on Variolite. <br /> <br />Mr. Lyle Daugherty asked if the builders were responsible for paying for <br />their share of the assessment. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that now whenever anyone develops an area the developers <br />put in the blacktop streets. <br /> <br />Mr. Del Howe asked if the developers would be assessed now if they still own <br />some lots along Variolite. <br /> <br />City Engineer Raatikka stated that no matter who owns land along Variolite <br />they would be assessed. <br /> <br />Mr. Maynard Woodbury asked why the whole City couldn't be assessed and how <br />this improvement can increase his home value. <br /> <br />City Engineer Raatikka stated he would have a better road to drive to his <br />home on. <br /> <br />Mr. Woodbury stated the whole City gets benefit from it. <br /> <br />Councilman Muller stated that M.S.A. funds are taxes paid by all of us. <br /> <br />Mr. Terry Mox asked how many miles this is. <br /> <br />City Engineer Raatikka stated it was 1.5 miles. <br /> <br />Mr. Bill Haugen asked if they could provide the amount of taxes to be paid <br />for the streets, sewer, water, etc. and if a study could be made with regard <br />to the affect of traffic in the area by blacktopping the street, such as <br />speed, increased traffic, some heavier trucks, safety, police, fire, etc. <br /> <br />City Engineer Raatikka stated the project would increase the traffic and speed <br />signs would be po~ted. It would then be up to the police to enforce. <br /> <br />Colleen Zimmerman stated the speed signs are posted and no one pays any <br />attention to them now and if the street is tarred it would be worse. <br /> <br /> <br />
