April 9, 1979 <br />Council Meeting <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />Councilman Cox added that if Ramsey and other communities such as Andover <br />were getting their proper share of State Aid it wouldn't be such a financial <br />strain on the City to hire additional help. He said he is in favor of <br />government staying as much out of business as possible and only acting <br />as a regulatory agency. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />Motion by Councilman Reimann seconded by Councilman Cox to approve the <br />minutes of the March 26, 1979 minutes with the following corrections: <br /> <br />Page 3, second paragraph, A1 Sorteber should be corrected to <br />read A1 Sorteberg. <br /> <br />Page 4, the Motion regarding Grosslein Beverage, No. 5) the word <br />"blacktop" should be deleted; and No. 8) delete Mr. August E. Grosslein <br />and insert Grosslein Beverage. <br /> <br />Page 4, the Motion regarding Mr. Art Anderson, add - Mr. Anderson <br />stated he would donate the easement of 80 feet of right of way for <br />the extension of 171st Street N.W. from Bison to Zeolite Street N.W. <br />to the City for construction of the road irregardless of anything <br />else. <br /> <br />Page 9, the Motion regarding the Feasibility Study for 161st, add - <br />The City agreed to pick up the cost for grading the road to standards <br />acceptable for paving. <br /> <br />Page 10, regarding Council action on licensing, it should be noted <br />that Councilman Mickelson voted "No". <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilman Cox, and Councilman <br />Reimann. Voting no: None. Councilman Sorteberg abstained. <br /> <br />NOTE BOARDS AND COMMISSION MINUTES <br /> <br />Items No. I through 8 were received by the Council with no discussion. <br /> <br />LETTERS AND COMMUNICATIONS <br /> <br />Councilman Reimann announced a tree sale to be held on Saturday, May 5, 1979, <br />from 7:00 A.M. until 12:00 NOON at the old City Hall building on St. Francis <br />Boulevard. Everyone is invited to participate in the tree sale. He also <br />noted that an Arbor Day Ceremony is scheduled at the new City Hall on <br />Nowthen Boulevard on Wednesday, May 2, 1979 sometime after 5:00 P.M. <br />Councilman Reimann said he will arrange to get a tree to be planted. The <br />Brownies and 4H Clubs will be in attendance. <br /> <br />Councilman Cox reported that Firefighter Bob Reiners, a Ramsey resident, <br />lost his life recently and asked that a letter of condolence be sent to <br />his family. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilman Reimann seconded by Councilman Cox to send a letter <br />of condolence to the Bob Reiners family. <br /> <br /> <br />
