?age 3 <br />April 9, 1979 <br />Council ~ .Meeting <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilman Cox, Councilman <br />Reimann and Councilman Sorteberg. Voting no: None. <br /> <br />A letter from the University of Minnesota regarding a two-day conference <br />on underground housing, (earth sheltering) was presented and no action was <br />taken. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec read a letter concerning a meeting on bridges within the County <br />to be held at the Anoka County Commissioners Room on April 16, at 7:30 P.M. <br />Mayor Gamec will be attending this meeting. <br /> <br />Council received a letter from the State of Minnesota regarding National <br />Volunteer Week, April 22 through April 28, and no action was taken. <br /> <br />Council received a letter from the Metropolitan Council on a meeting <br />regarding Planning and Analysis Changing to be held on April 26 from 9:30 A.M. <br />to 4:30 P.M. <br />~ .~.~, ,,., ,'. ~ ,/ <br />Mayor Gamec Suggested a letter be forwarded to them to be read at the <br />meeting stating that the City is not as concerned with recycling wastes <br />as it is in getting fair share aid. <br /> <br />Councilman Reimann reported that a meeting with Anoka's City Manager will <br />be held on Thursday, April 12th, at 7:30 P.M. at the new fire station at <br />which time he will receive a final report on fire protection. <br /> <br />Councilman Cox related that he spoke to Mr. Landol Locher concerning stray <br />dogs killing 20 of his ducks. <br /> <br />A discussion was held regarding animal control patrol. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilman Cox seconded by Councilman Sorteberg to authorize <br />the City's Animal Control to patrol the area for 15 hours for a one-week <br />period only, to see how effective the extra patrol will be. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilman Cox, Councilman Reimann, <br />Councilman Sorteberg. Voting no: None. <br /> <br />STAFF REPORTS <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec reported that he met with County Commissioner Ed Fields regarding <br />the bike traffic lane by the Tom Thumb Store on Ramsey Boulevard. The <br />bridge crossing was discussed and it looks like it will be going across <br />the Rum River south of the old Hill farm and north of the high school. <br />Several studies are being made, one is already completed and construction <br />possibly may be started on the bridge in the next three or four years <br />providing all studies, surveys, etc., are completed. Also discussed were <br />police radios. The City is entitled to two hand-held radios however, they <br />were unable to contact the party that is supposed to have them available. <br /> <br />Councilman Cox commented on the amount of interest earned due to Administrator <br />Schnelle's careful watching and stated that the citizens should be appreciative <br />of that kind of effort. <br /> <br />Mayor Windschitl, City of Andover, was present at the meeting and spoke with <br />concern regarding the State Aid allocations. He is seeking to organize some <br />efforts to get action taken so that Cities like Andover and Ramsey can get a <br /> <br /> <br />
