Page 4
Public Hearing
April .'16, !979

Mr. Page said he feels it should be changed then.

Councilman Cox said his point is well taken and he should state them so as
he is but he should address theSe points to the Council at their meeting
because the City Engineer is just'presenting the project.

Mr. Page said he feels people travel fast enough now and it will need additional
patrol after it is improved.

Mr. J. Green, 16011 Kangaroo, said let Mr. Lund pay for it as long as
Oakridge Estates is adding to the traffic.

Mr. Mox, Armstrong Boulevard'asked what is the authority for determining that
this road should be paved rather than others.

Mayor Gamec replied that generally, so far it has been done by petition by
the homeowners and this is one of the first ones that the City has had that
ends up with a strip of unimproved road between developments and Council
brought this to Hearing.

Mr. Delaney asked why the Council is in favor of paving 161st?

Mayor Gamec said one of the reasons is throught he Street Department they look
at the cost of maintaining gravel roads and find it is the same as maintaining
blacktop.

Mr. Delaney said the 3/4 mile of road is all that the City would maintain.
Why didn't they go to the other areas first. There isn't one houseon~Llama
Street and only four or five homes on 161st Avenue.

Mayor Gamec said the Council is looking at this general area and usage.

Mr. Delaney said people in the area would have access on 83rd.

Mr. Full said if this isamaintenance problem why doesn't the City pick areas
all through the City and pave them all at the same time instead of picking
just one area.

Mayor Gamec replied that is because of cost. The City has considered what
blacktop cost will be in the future and mainenance costs and that they have given
thought to such a project.

Motion by Councilman Reimann and seconded by Councilman Cox to adjourn the Public
Hearing.

Motion carried. Voting yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilman Cox, Councilman Reimann
and Councilman Sorteberg. Voting no: None.

Meeting adjourned at 8:23 P.M.

Administrator
