Page 2
Public Hearing
April 16, 1979

Mr. Muller, 15741 Hedgehog asked how thick is the asphalt going to be.

Engineer Raatikka responded, l½ inches.

Mr. Muller asked what happens to the street when the frost goes out.

Mayor Gamec replied that the street is guaranteed by the contractor through
a performance bond for one year after completion of the project.

Mr. Mull~er states he has lived here for three years and questions why there
is a hole in the same spot every year on Variolite Street.

Mayor Gamec said that Variolite Street isn't what you call blacktopped, the
City is in the process of upgrading Variolite.

Mr. Pat Jones, 8350 158th Lane asked what kind of thickness is on
Sunfish Lake Boulevard that has to take usage of dump trucks, etc., and how will
1½ inches hold up.

Engineer Raatikka said this is the standard the City has been using throughout
the years and it will hold up as long as there isn't heavy truck usage.
Sunfish Lake Blvd. is 3 to 4 inches thick due to heavy truck usage to the
Landfill.

Mayor Gamec addedthatSunfish Lake Blvd. is a nine ton road and regular City
street are five ton.

Mr. Ron Erickson, 8361 158th Lane N.W. asked what is the timing on a project
like this?

Mayor Gamec replied that the earliest any construction could be started is
June 1979.

A lady in the audience asked about having the streets posted for the safety
of children.

Mayor Gamec replied that the City is considering that now. There have
been requests for stop signs, etc., and generally, the problems are caused
by the people right in the area.

A question was raised concerning who owns the two Outlots and who absorbs that
cost.

Engineer Raatikka said they are lused aspondingareas.

Mayor Gamec reported that the City designated these Outlots for water drainage
from the lots in the area and homeowners absorb the cost.

Councilman Cox said that this is a very good question, there were two or three
parties who previously tried to determine who did own the Outlots and he
feels this should be checked into to find out who legally owns the property.

Mayor Gamec took a poll of the ~ud'ience and the majority of those attending
the hearing were in favor of the project, six persons stood in objection.
