Regular Council Meeting April 23, 1979 Page 11 Mr. Long expressed his disgust toward an assessment, he feels he already paid for blacktop in his development and shouldn't have to pay again. Mayor Gamec stated that Council will meet the evening of April 30th at the Special Meeting to discuss other alternatives and asked that anyone with input should put it in writing and send it to Council by April 27th. STREET IMPROVEMENT REGARDING ADVERTISING FOR'BIDS'FOR WHISPERING PINES ESTATES PLAT #3 Motion by Councilman Cox and seconded by Councilman Mickelson to table advertising for bids for Whispering Pines #3 until the May 14, 1979 Council meeting. Motion carried. Voting yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Cox, Mickelson, Reimann and Sorteberg. Voting no: None KEITH CABLE REGARDING ZUNI STREET~IMPROVEMENT~'FOR'PROPOSED'RAMSEY'SHOPPERS MALL ........... Mr. Cable was present to discuss with Council regarding. Zuni Street [service road) that will serve the Ramsey ShoPPers Mal!~ Mr. JohniRice,~iAttorneyi Shelard Park, was representing Mr, Cab!e~ Discussion ensued regarding Mr. Cable's ShoPPi~ng Center and thelinstallation of the street. Councilman Cox asked Mr. Cable if he'had experienced any problems with.the City regarding his shopping center proposal. Mr. Cable answered that he hasn't had any problems with the municipality up to this point. Mayor Gamec said it is the Council's intention~to extend, the'street behind his proposed Shopping Center. Councilman Cox said he understood that Mr. Cable wanted to build hiS.center to front on Highway 47 but that the better'part of his buying traffic will come off the back roads. In the future years it is doubtful~ that thelState Will allow access onto Highway 47 in that area because of thelBri.dge Crossing the Rum River. Mr. Cable questioned why the Council wanted to retain so much land for the street setback but that it did not really matter, his main concern was 'the direction the center is going to face. Councilman Sorteberg said that traffic would all be on the proposed street. Councilman Cox said Mr. Cable would have more exposure if he located'the building on Zuni Street because the City isn't encouraging too~much commercial development on Highway 10 it is all in the southeast'corner of the City~ The Council didn't.w~nt t~ see it..buil~on~fortoday but for 30 to 40 years dQwn the line.
