Regular Council Meeting <br />April 23-, !979. - ~age 12 <br /> <br />Councilman Cox suggested that Mr. Cable would want to utilize the proposed <br />road so that his facility would be for convenience of his customers without <br />having to fight traffic. He asked Mr. Cable if he is telli.ng Council that <br />he wants exposure but doesn't want'to depend on traffic. <br /> <br />Mr. Cable replied that this is the story he gets from the tenants. <br /> <br />Attorney Rice said tenants say they want access off of Highway 47. <br /> <br />Administrator Schnelle said if the shopping center will be front~ng~on~Zuni <br />Street, the street will have to belpet~tioned byiSO, percent Qf~th. elpropertS <br />owners, in this case it is Mr. Cablel' <br /> <br />Councilman Cox said the City doesn't have the funds to put in the.street any <br />other way and the ordinance requires it. He said Mr~ Cable'could~front on <br />Zuni Street and face his advertising signs on'HighwaY 47 for]exposure. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that Mr. Cable could face it either way but when Highway <br />47 access is closed off, he would have the front facing 47., and traffic.wQu!d <br />be coming into the back. <br /> <br />Administrator Schnelle added that Mr. Cable would not meet thelrequ~rements <br />of the City's development plan without Zuni Street. <br /> <br />Mr. Cable feels he would be providing street for the people in nearby <br />developments. <br /> <br />Councilman Cox said ten years from now, Mr,.Cab!e wou!d thank thelCounci! <br />when signalization comes in and without Zuni Street,.traffic Would belbacked' <br />up and he would be crying for'the~street~' <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec said the street should be put in the same time as the~development: <br /> <br />Attorney Rice said the road isn't to Mr. Cable's benefit.~ <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec informed Mr. Cable that he now has an idea of what the City <br />requires under the Urban Plan, an additional 33' feet of land for ~ setback <br />plus paving of Zuni Street. <br /> <br />Mr. Cable stated that he didn't think thelCouncil realized'how much'expense <br />all this is to him. <br /> <br />IT~ASCA HEIGHTS REGARDING STAFF AND'CITIZENS'MEETING.'ON'STR_~EEiTS~!N~THAT SUBD!VIS!ON~ <br /> <br />Administrator Schnelle explained that the citizens want their road upgraded <br />and will settle for rural road upgraded to Class V only and they don~t want <br />to cause any problems. They will pay for upgradi.ng and Class V to City.standards <br />but don't want blacktop. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec said it wouldn't be worth all the public hearings, feasibility studies~ <br />etc., for Class V, this is not on the priority list,~it could be dQne next year, <br />He suggests leaving this until next year and have the Street Department look at <br />it then. <br /> <br /> <br />
