PAGE 8 <br />MAY 29, 1979 <br />~EGULAR COUNCIL MEETING <br /> <br />Motion by Councilman Cox, seconded by Councilman Mickelson to advise the City <br />Attorney to proceed immediately to acquire the right of way through condemnation <br />proceedings. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Cox, Mickelson, Reimann and <br />Sorteberg. Voting no: None. <br /> <br />Mr. Grosslein asked if everyone would be informed of the cost of the improvement. <br />And, if the assessment could be spread over a 20 year period to help the commercial <br />property owners financially. <br /> <br />Administrator Schnelle n~ted that all of the people involved had been invited <br />to attend 'the meeting tonight. <br /> <br />Council directed that copies of the engineer's feasibility report and cost <br />estimate be hand delivered to the people who are involved in the assessment. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilman Mickelson, seconded by Councilman Cox to adopt Resolution <br />No~ 79-38 Approving the Ordering of Plans and Specifications. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Cox, Mickelson, Reimann <br />and Sorteberg. Voting no: None. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />PETITION REQUESTING THAT 179TH LANE N.W. BE POSTED AS A 35 MPH- STREET <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt to ora petition to lower the speed limit to 35 MPH on <br />179th Lane N.W. Based on recommendations of the City police department, the <br />following action was taken. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilman Cox, seconded by Councilman Mickelson to adopt Resolution <br />No. 79-43 requesting Anoka County to change the speed limit on 179th Avenue N.W. <br />between County Road 7 and Highway 47 to 45 MPH. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Cox, Mickelson, Reimann <br />and Sorteberg. Voting no: None. <br /> <br />WILLIAM PROFT - HOME OCCUPATION REQUEST. <br /> <br />Property involved: 8964 Highway 10, Ramsey, MN. <br /> <br />Mr. Proft appeared before Council and stated his intention was to do sign painting <br />at his residence on a very small scale. He would not be generating additional <br />traffic and his supplies would be very minimal. The business would be geared <br />mainly to allow him future retirement income. It would involve truck lettering, <br />window and door lettering and small signs. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilman Mickelson, seconded by Councilman Sorteberg to grant a home <br />occupation (C.U.P.) to Mr. Proft to operate a sign business in a double garage <br />located at his residence at 8964 Highway 10, subject to his adherence to the City <br />sign ordinance and other ordinances related to operation of this business in a <br />residential area for the health.safety and welfare of his neighbors. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Cox, Mickelson, Reimann <br />and Sorteberg. Voting no: None. <br /> <br /> <br />
