Councilman Sorteberg said that this has been a difficult project because <br />of the ditches etc., and he doesn't feel that Mr. Kreger should be charged <br />more than what the actual cost is. <br /> <br />Councilman Reimann said he doesn't feel that $200 is a justified estimate. <br /> <br />Mr. Kreger wanted to know what was involved to bring the cost up to $550. <br /> <br />Engineer Raatikka explained that these costs were for extra inspections ,and <br />letters he wrote to NDH due to no progress being made on the project. <br /> <br />Mr. Kreger said he will go along with $600. '. <br /> <br />Motion by Gamec, seconded by Sorteberg to charge $650.00 for costs that <br />the City engineer and street department incurred to liquidate damages <br />pursuant to that portion of the contract on Improvement Project 78-1, <br />2, 3, and4. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting yes: Mayor Gamec~ Councilmen Mickelson, Reimann <br />and Sorteberg. <br /> <br />BURLINGTON NORTHERN 'CROSSING ON SUNFISH'LiKE 'BOULEVARD <br /> <br />Administrator Schnelle informed the Council that Burlington Northern <br />will be closing Sunfish Lake Boulevard railroad crossing beginning <br />on July 25 for about three to four days to make repairs to this crossing. <br /> <br />COUNCIL NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />GORDON HICKS - REGARDING ZONING'COMPLAINT <br /> <br />Mr. Hicks was present regarding the COmplaint from his neighbors in regard <br />to his operating a business from his home.' <br /> <br />Administrator Schnelle said he has received letters of complaint from <br />Mr. Hick's neighbors and has sent letters to him in this regard. <br /> <br />Mr. Hicks stated that the park reserve has bought all the barrels so they <br />will be removed and his trucks are stored on his property between jobs, <br />he added that he has lived here three years and asked permission to <br />operate his business during the rest of the construction season until <br />November 1st. <br /> <br />Mr. Hanson, 6848 164th Lane N.W., said he lives right behind Hicks and <br />workmen come in to load trucks and that ~hey have to put up with the noise <br />from the loader loading rock and he' is concerned about the odor from <br />chemicals that are similar to bulk gas and that this could cause some <br />type of contamination. <br /> <br />Mr. Hicks said he questions how his business could devalue the land when <br />the Gun Club nearby makes more noise than his business. <br /> <br />Bonnie Vance, Jaspar Street N.W. said the noise is very loud from Mr. Hick,s <br />business and she is concerned about water' contamination from chemicals and <br />also that it looks like a dump with the storing and stockpiling. <br /> <br />Regular Council Meeting <br />July 23, 1979 <br /> <br /> <br />
