Voting yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilman Cox, Reimann and
Sorteberg. Voting no: None.

Dennis Donovan reported that the DNR is working on putting a canoe
camp site at White Pines Addition.

Mayor Gamec reported that people in White Pines Addition are very much
against this proposal. The problem is field parties:and the City has
to police the area and it is hard to get access to the area with vehicles.
The Park & Recreation Department is to review this further and inform
the property owners of the DNR proposal.

Council_man Cox stated that he doesn't feel the City is in a financial
position to police this area. There is not good enough access to the
property and there isn't enough police manpower and problems already
exist there; he feels that the DNR should be informed that the City
is not in favor of the proposal unles, s they are willing to supplement
the funds to take care of policing and looking after it.

Dennis Denovan feels this is punishing people who would use it properly
and not only people in Ramsey could have benefit but others also. He
said sometime in the future the City would need to temper their thinking
to get police protection that is necessary to have a facility such as this.

Councilman Cox noted that the City already has Brookview Park nearby,
the regional parks, Husby property and the weigh station. He doesn't
feel Ramsey citizens should be penalized and have to pay for regional
facilities for other people.

Dennis Denovan is to bring back further information on,he DNRpark proposal.

Regular Council Meeting
August 27, 1979
Page ll
