Letter from the Department of Transportation regarding Highway 47 <br />and Roanoke Street regarding the speed limit selection. This letter <br />to be forwarded to the Street Superintendent. <br /> <br />Letter from Moody's Investors Service assigning the rating of Baa 1 <br />to the $950,000 General Obligation ULT Bonds scheduled for sale 8/27/79. <br /> <br />Letter from the Department of Transportation regarding the intersection <br />on CSAH No. 5 and Highway 47. Any party wishing to make request for <br />public hearing may submit a letter of request by 8/31/79. The DOT <br />is proposing to install a bypass and create a safer traffic situation at <br />this intersection. <br /> <br />Letter from Metro Council regarding the regional park plan to be held <br />8/28/79 at the Met. Council offices. Dennis Donovan was notified of <br />this meeting. <br /> <br />Letter from Governor Quie regarding United Nations Week. Mrs. Kathleen <br />Schneider to be contacted to attend the ceremony on 10/24/79 on behalf <br />of the City. <br /> <br />Letter from Governor Quie regarding the State Aid Formula. He is forwarding <br />the City's information etc. to Commissioner Allen of the Dept. of Revenue, <br />-for his review. Mayor Gamec is to set up a meeting with Mr. Allen to <br />discuss this issue as they still do not understand the City's problem with <br />the formula. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec reported on the Variolite Street Improvement Project Change <br />Order problem and special meeting hel~d therefor on 8/11/79. <br /> <br />F. ngineer Raatikka reported on the problem stating that the organic soil <br />went down further than was anticipated and what they are doing to correct <br />the situation. The road will have to settle for a few years before it can <br />be paved. <br /> <br />Councilman Cox questioned if this method would solve the problem. <br /> <br />Engineer Raatikka stated that this is the most economical way to take <br />care of this problem. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that the Soil Testing Service has recommended this <br />solution to the problem. <br /> <br />Lab Reports from the landfill were discussed. <br /> <br />Councilman Cox said he still has a problem interpreting'these ~ reports <br />due to the difference in regard to the nitrates and other areas. <br />~ would like to see a comparison sheet for the year for the wells. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec said that Well No. 5 is the only well that shows changes. <br />And it is in the Spring of the year because of the run off and water <br />coming back from the river.
