At the start of the hearing, City staff will present information on
the proposed improvement project to the public and the City Council, including a reasonable
estimate of the impact of the assessment which is preliminarily proposed at $9,150 per benefitting
property. All interested persons in attendance will then be invited to address the City Council
regarding any aspect of the proposed improvements, including the proposed assessment.
At the time this hearing was ordered by Council, City staff was directed to revise the project
Feasibility Report to include an alternative design option to the proposed design that includes an on -
street bike lane throughout the entire corridor and limited on -street parking bays along 35% of one
side. The alternative design allows for a 32 -foot wide street with two through lanes and on -street
parking along one side of the corridor. Both designs will be discussed in detail at the hearing. It is
important to note that the proposed assessment amount WILL NOT CHANGE if the alternative
design is chosen. The proposed assessment amount was determined by applying 25% of eligible
assessment costs for this project, which includes all costs to reconstruct the street at its current
width of 30 feet using a standard residential pavement section.
Sincerely,
Bruce Westby, P.E.
City Engineer
It is our mission to work together to responsibly grow our community, and to provide quality, cost-effective and efficient government
services.
