Minnesota Department of Transportation letter dated October 3,1979 presented. <br />This letter grants approval of a 40 mile per hour speed limit between the inter- <br />section of Highway 47 and the intersection of Roanoke Street N.W. <br /> <br />N~tional Flo~ Insurance Program letter dat6d October 1, 1979. <br />This letter is sent regarding the City participating in the National Flood <br />Insurance Program. The City is processing this matter at present. <br /> <br />Cable Television letter dated September 26, 1979 presented and no action taken. <br /> <br />The S-1 letter dated October 197~ noted, no action taken. <br /> <br />Department of Transportaiion Rail Services, regarding proposed rail abandonments <br />in the State. <br /> <br />Metro/CAB letter dated October 9, 1979 <br /> Discussion held. Mayor Gamec said there is a controversy over the <br />force main in Anoka and they haven't been able to get commitment on who will <br />pay for the force main and who will be served off of it and who will benefit <br />by it, made resolution objecting funding of the force main until more studies <br />are done on the CAB line. <br /> <br />Regarding LAWCON, Mayor Gamec noted that the City could probably get the <br />funding, however, the budget discussion will cover why we do not waist to <br />do this now. <br /> <br />STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />Discussion held regarding Holiday Inn meeting, November 1- on Airport <br />CAB interceptor, tax increment financing, fire department <br /> <br />Councilman Cox requested that Elk River be invited to attend as <br />they have a desire to be involved. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec suggested inquiring as to whether these communities are <br />interested in going into a joint powers agreement to share the cost of an <br />airport, discussing what steps have to be taken, what type of airport we <br />are looking at, and the study has to be done. <br /> <br />Regarding fire protection, a possible substation at Ramsey, a volunteer <br />fire department to offer more efficient service to Ramsey. <br /> <br />Administrator Schnelle suggested a joint powers agreement may be researched <br />between the Cities of Anoka, Ramsey and Champlin for a volunteer fire program. <br /> <br />Councilman Cox said that something like this would provide better protection <br />coverage and that the Ramsey citizens should have an opportunit~ to participate <br />on the volunteer fire staff. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec said that Ramsey would have to consider their call rate, growth, <br />etc., as to determine when it would be feasible to have its own fire department. <br /> <br />Councilman Cox stated that they should indicate some direction they wish to <br />go on it. <br /> Regular Council Meeting <br /> October 22, 1979 <br /> Page 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
