Regular Meeting 1/10/77 <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />Councilman Gorham said in previous years Council has met with the Anoka County Union <br />and discussed the delivery of news to the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />Mayor Cox commented that his point is well taken and Mayor Cox then read an article <br />in the December 3rd edition of the Union regarding the City of Ramsey. He Mead the article <br />to the audience. Mayor Cox said Council has a responsibility to see that an objective <br />job of reporting is done and it is time Council do something about discussing these <br />irregularities with the paper. <br /> <br />Mayor Cox added under New Business, Item h. Designate someone to discuss reporting <br />of City news with the Anoka County Union. <br /> <br />DESIGNATION OF OFFICIAL DEPOSITORIES <br /> <br />Motion by Mickelson, seconded by Reimann to continue to use State Bank of Anoka and <br />First National Bank of Anoka as official depositories. <br /> Carried 5 Ayes <br /> <br />MINUTES OF DECEMBER 27, 1976. <br /> <br />Motion by Gorham, seconded by Mickelson to approve the minutes of December 27, 1976, <br />as mailed. <br /> Carried 5 Ayes <br /> <br />LETTERS & COMMUNICATIONS <br /> <br />Mr. Nereson read a letter of resignation from Robert Schwartz, Park & Rec. Commission. <br />Mayor Cox added this item under New Business, Item i. <br /> <br />Letter from Charles E. Riesenber§, City Planner, City of Brooklyn Park regarding <br />a meeting of interested city representatives from the north suburban Mississippi <br />River Critical Area communities schedule for 10:00 Wednesday morning, January 19th <br />at Brookl~Park City Hall. Mr. Nereson said he will attend the meeting. <br /> <br />Public Meeting on January lOth at Anoka County Courthouse, 7:30 p.m. for the purpose <br />of discussing the preliminary county-wide Community health services plan and receiving <br />comments concerning the plan. <br /> <br />Mr. Nereson presented letters he had been directed by Council to write to Mr. Steffen, <br />Senator Humphrey, Congressman Oberstar. Council signed the letters and asked that <br />letters be written to Congressman Oberstar's secretary, Riva Lee and the Anoka County <br />Assistant ~dminstrator, John Mendler. Also a letter to Anoka expressing appreciation <br />re~arding the CAB interceptor project and landfill negotiations. <br /> <br />Letter concerning underdeveloped communities in Anoka County. It is hoped by early <br />March they will have submission of all projects that will go under EDA funding for <br />the future and they will be reviewing by April 1st. Mr. Nereson said the Economic <br />Development Committee should be made aware of this. <br /> <br />Mayor Cox said a meeting should be called in the very near future. <br />Mayor Cox presented the following: <br />Letter from Anoka County Health Department regarding weed report. Mayor Cox said he <br />has been assuming responsibility of weed inspector and the report has to be in by 1/27/77. <br /> <br />Letter concerning the Anoka High School BanE' going to Washington D.C. to represent <br />the State of Minnesota in the Presidential Inaugural Parade in Washington on 1/20/77. <br />The cost is $30,000 and City staff is to contact any organizations for donations such <br />as Lions Club. Mayor Cox said to indicate to our citizens that Ramsey students are <br />attending Anoka High School. <br /> <br /> <br />
