Regular Council Meeting <br />Page 2 <br />2/14/77 <br /> <br />Letters & Communications, continued. <br /> <br />Letter from John Hubbard regarding a traffic citation he received. <br /> <br />Mayor Cox expressed sympathy with Mr. Hubbards situation and said he is <br />a very good citizen of the community and was instrumental in acquistion <br />of playground equipment for the City. <br /> <br />Mr. Nereson said Police Chief Auspos has responded to Mr. Hubbard's letter. <br /> <br />Mayor Cox presented the following: <br /> <br />Letter from Congressman Oberstar indicating he would like to meet <br />with Commissioner Fields, Anoka County, and review the Rum River <br />Bridge proposal. Oberstar indicates that a project with the support <br />of all the communities would have an opportunity to get funding in <br />the area of four million. <br /> <br />Mayor Cox directed Mr. Nereson to keep on top of this and if it appears <br />to be a problem, let him know. <br /> <br />Funding for sports hockey facility in the Anoka, Ramsey, Andover area <br />was discussed. <br /> <br />Letter from Rudy Perpich regarding a conference to be held on Natural <br />Disasters and a presentation on Spring weather outlook for 1977. <br /> <br />Letter from MN Municipalities regarding a mid-session legislative confer- <br />ence to be held on February 22. Every member City is urged to send at <br />least one area representative. Mayor Cox said he had attended last .year <br />and said someone else should attend this year. <br /> <br />League of MN Municipalities Ludwig Award. March 15, 1977 is the deadline <br />for entry. <br /> <br />Mr. Nereson commented regarding theCity's group health insurance. He <br />set a meeting for February 17,$77 to discuss the plan with the Insurance <br />Representative. <br /> <br />Old Business <br /> <br />Community School Program. <br />Mr. Stewart reviewed the winter program and reported that the Advisory Council <br />is working on a rough draft survey and would like feedback and input on it. <br />He said the Annual Report is to be provided shortly reporting happenings and <br />the breakdown of costs. <br /> <br />Mr. Potts, Community School Director, passed out copies of the Community <br />School enrollments and survey and a proposal regarding teen in the area. <br />He said there has been difficulty of coordinating time schedules between <br />schools. The bus transportation problem was discussed. <br /> <br />Mayor Cox suggested a solution be found so that the same problems do not <br />exist next year. <br /> <br />Councilman Muller inquired how the enrollment compares with other communities. <br />Mr. Potts replied that he feels the turnout is excellent. <br /> <br /> <br />
