Regular Council Meeting Page 3 2/14/77 Councilman Reimann asked if any thou.qht has been given to using the skating facility more than at present for things such as broomball, hockey or pleasure skating. Ann Madison said there has been a problem finding an instructor. She said she and her family have came over to use the warming house and rink five times and the warming house was closed when it was supposed to be open and she found this disgusting. Councilmann Reimann asked if she reported it to the office. Ann Madison said she didn't report it. Mayor Cox said he would appreciate it if they would advise the the accountable people. If they are not doing their job, he wants to know about it. Mrs. Thunnel said she agreed with Councilman Reimann's suggestion and broomball should be offered. She asked if a Council member will be on the Advisory Council. Mayor Cox said there is no member at this time who is able to attend regularly. However, Council does want to keep on top of things and asked the Advisory Council to ask for someone to attend when they feel' it is necessary. Agenda item for next meeting - Community School. Council expressed concern regarding the youth program and stres~sed that the program should be oriented toward the youth and if there is extra time then the other programs could be fit into the schedule. Park Commission Ordinance. Mr. Nereson said the question of renumeration for Park Board membens is a very gray area. Planning and Zoning is paid on an expense basis and it appears the same could be done with the Park Board. Discussion on paying P & R members held. Councilman Muller said he would be in. favor of paying Park Commissioners for expenses incurred but not for every meeting. Councilman Reimann felt that P & Z members incur more expense in the scope of their duties but if Park Commissioners have an expense, they should be paid for it. Councilman Mickelson said he feels if they are doing their job, they incur as many or more expense as P & Z Commissioners and feels they should be compensated for it. Penny Engel asked about the 1977 budget for parks. It was explained that the monies budgeted are for the park comprehensive plan and part time help that is needed to maintain the parks. Citizens present inquired about maintaining the skating area on Peltzer Lake.
