Page 2
Reg. Council Meeting
3/14/77

Letters & Communications

Mr. Nereson announced the following:
1. Two shade tree short courses to be attended by Bruce Bacon
in March at $15.00 each.
2. Letter from Anoka County Commissioner Ed Fields, regarding
the County Boards actions on the Rum River Bridge Crossing,
Resolution 77-28 applying for funds.
3. Phil Nereson presented a letter addressed to Bob Cushman
inquirin? about purchase of park land.

Council consensus is that the City is not interested in
sellin~ it but that the letter should be qiven to the
Park & Recreation Commission for their disposition.

Mayor Cox presented the following:
1. Letter from Ed Fields concerning 3 different areas for burning
or stock piling of diseased elm and oak trees in Anoka County.
a. Anoka County Chain of Lakes Park
b. Anoka County Bunker Prairie Park
c. Anoka County Rum River Central, west side of Rum River
(N.E. Corner of the City of Ramsey)
2. Letter from Congressman Oberstar confirminq his attendance
at the new municipal building groundbreaking ceremonies
Sunday, March 27, 1977.

Old Business

Planning and Zoning referrals

a. Aufust Grosslein, 13554 Tungsten appeared to ask for a
variance to the setback requirements.

Mayor Cox asked Mr. Grosslein about plantin~ of shrubs.

Mr. Grosslein said he has been adding onto the building and if
he keeps adding on he doesn't think he would want to put in
shrubs, because he would have to keep moving them.

Mayor Cox said he could put in a few shrubs and trees near the
outer area of his lot to improve the appearance out of proper
respect to the people that live across the street. He said this
was discussed at length before. It was agreed by to him before
Council and Plannin~ & Zoning at an earlier meeting.

Mr. Grosslein said he did a~ree. All the building he has been
doing has made it hard to consider landscaping. If this is
the concern, he could plant some lombardies.

Councilman Gorham stated that it was agreed that Mr. Grosslein
would level off and plant a buffer.

Mayor Cox thinks in fairness he should live up to his agreement.

Mr. Grosslein said this spring he would have it leveled off
and get somethina planted.
