Fiscal Policy <br />Work with the NMMA legislative delegation, League <br />of Minnesota Cities, Metro Cities, Anoka County, <br />Ramsey County and other stakeholders to be sure <br />the collective North Metro voice is heard and ensure <br />that the Local Government Aid and Metro Area Fiscal <br />Disparities programs remain intact. <br />Advocate for NMMA perspectives in debates over <br />comprehensive tax reform proposals. <br />Support opportunities for member cities' economic <br />development and TIF initiatives. <br />= Continue to join with other county and city <br />organizations opposing legislation providing for <br />a future reverse referendum if a county or city <br />increases its property tax Levy. <br />• Support legislation creating early voting <br />opportunities that create administrative and financial <br />efficiencies for local governments. <br />Oppose the delay of the effective date for the <br />extension of the general sales tax exemption for <br />joint powers entities and special taxing districts. <br />Who We Are <br />The North Metro Mayors Association was created in 1987 to <br />serve as the non-profit champion organization to encourage <br />private and public investments in the northern suburbs. <br />Within our territory, which is defined by legislative <br />districts, member cities represent more than 466,000 <br />residents in Andover, Anoka, Blaine, Brooklyn Center, <br />Brooklyn Park, Champlin, Circle Pines, Coon Rapids, <br />Lexington.
