Regular Meeting January 9, 1978 Page 5 plan, July 1977, from Gilbert Menkveld which included a 120' right of way for Industry Road within Secton 21. The negotiations for Industry Road later broke down and the City moved Industry road align- ment so it would not affeCt Gilbert Menkveld's property in Section 21. Part of the negotiations were to allow Mr. Menkveld to subdivide in one acre lots rather than 2-½ acre lots. Mr. Nereson asked the City Council whether they felt the Planning Commission should now review a proposed preliminary plat from Mr. Menkveld calling for one acre lots or should they reject the plat and ask for 2-~ acre lot sizes. It was the 'consensus of the Council for the Planning Commission to hear Mr. Menkveld's preliminary plat as submitted with one acre lots. ATTORNEY'S REPORT Attorney Goodrich said that Mrs. Guy signed a release from a pending lawsuit which was brought by Mr. Oliphant. He said that he received notice regarding the Nelson vs Ramsey City Council case saying that they are ready to have a trial in April. Councilman Muller asked about the Odegaard dog situation. Attorney Goodrich said that to his knowledge the dogs are gone, that they disposed of them or gave them away and now have two dogs left. He said the redwood fence 'will stay there and the outside kennel facilities are gone. MAYOR & COUNCIL INPUT Mayor Cox asked that a letter be sent to Federal Gun and Cartridge thanking them for employing young people in the area. Mayor Cox asked that a letter be sent to Ms. Ray Jones, the former mayor of St. Francis. He did not run this last election and Mayor Cox said a letter should be sent letting him know he will be missed and thanking him for doing a good job. Mayor Cox suggested that the EDA Committee contact General Motors and see if they could possibly establish some dealers in the area as there are some franchises available. Mayor Cox asked that a letter be sent to Congressman Oberstar thanking him for his assistance in groundbreaking and for his support at the open house and dedication of the new city hall building. At the same time, indicate to him that the City is wondering if there is some government fire equipment available. Councilman Reimann suggested that a letter be sent to Mr. Humphrey, also, regarding fire department equipment~ Mmyor Cox suggested that by the next meeting a list of names be submitted to establish a committee for a volunteer fire department.
