Regular Meeting <br />February 13, 1978 <br />Page Two <br /> <br />Mr. Nereson read a letter from Commissioner Ed Fields regarding a report on <br />the Rum River Bridge Crossing being completed and public hearings to be con- <br />ducted in April. <br /> <br />Mr. Fields indicated that he would like to go to Washington also to try to <br />secure funds for the bridge crossing, but felt it should be after the public <br />hearings are completed. <br /> <br />Mayor Cox read a letter written by Mr. Nereson to Mr. Dick Daugherty of the <br />Metropolitmn Waste Control Commission regarding a meeting to receive Ramsey's <br />comments~ on the Cab interceptor. <br /> <br />Mayor Cox read a letter written from Mr. John Herman, editor of the Cottage <br />Grove newspaper regarding the power line controversy.' He then read Highway <br />Resolution 78-3 regarding the high cost of transportation and energy. Mayor <br />Cox asked that a copy of the Resolution be sent to the Mayor of Lowery. <br /> <br />OLD BUSINESS <br /> <br />1. McGregor Liquor License <br /> <br />Mr. Nereson reviewed the situation for the Council and said that there are <br />two alternatives for the Council - either extend the license for Mrs. McGregor <br />or require that she pay the full license fee. <br /> <br />MOTION by Reimann, seconded by Mickelson to extend the issuance of the <br />McGregor liquor license to June 30, 1978. <br /> <br />Ayes <br /> <br />2. Consider Paul Weiss rezoning request <br /> <br />MOTION by Reimann, seconded by Gamec to accept the recommendations from <br />Planning and Zoning as stated concerning Paul Weiss' rezoning request <br />which is that it be denied due to the following factors l <br /> <br />1. Questionable sewer system availability due to high water table. <br />2. Inconsistent with Comprehensive Plan. <br />3. Possibility of traffic problems on 16?th Ave. N.W. <br /> <br />Ayes <br /> <br />3. Consider conditional use for Anoka-Ramsey Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses <br /> <br />The request is to build a Kingdom Hall in the comercially zoned Riverside <br />West Development, Lot 1, Block 5. Mr. Dean DeRemer, 6917 l~th Lane N.W., <br />Ramsey, was present and presented information regarding the number of cars <br />that would be coming from different areas to the Kingdom Hall. He maintained <br />that most cars would be traveling on Highway 10. <br /> <br />Mr. Brian Churik, 11320 Heather Street, Coon Rapids, was present and talked <br />to the Council about the Kingdom Hall building they would like to build. He <br />said that they felt that it would cause less problems in a commercial area <br />when it comes to the possibility of reselling the building. <br /> <br /> <br />
