Mr. Fields said he had hoped for a public
hearing during the first part of April, but this was not possible because of
various circumstances. He said he would keep the Council informed as best
he can.

Mr. Nereson read a letter to Mayor Cox from Congressman Oberstar regarding the
Rum River Crossing. Mr. Oberstar said he contacted highway officials promoting
favorable review of the project.

Mayor Cox indicated that he received a brochure from the St. Francis Community
School and anyone interested in seeing it can contact him.

Mr. Nereson said he received notice that the Government Training Service is
sponsoring a two-day seminar at the Radisson South on May 17 and 23. The
program is to deal largely with the Land Planning Act and implementation of it.
The fee is $30. Wickman regarding a variance granted to
Westphal Construction. He stated that Westphal Construction made an error and
placed a basement too close to the lot line at 15921Kamacite N.W. Mr. Nereson
said he indicated that he can't really see anyone being harmed by this or that
it would cause a hardship to anyone. It was decided to write a letter to Mr.
Westphal expressing the Council's feelings and a letter to Mr. Wickman saying
that it was reviewed by the Council.

Mayor Cox read a letter from neighbors of Ed Klemish saying they were disappointed
in the action taken by the Council at the last Council meeting. The letter asked
why Mr. Klemish keeps getting extensions of time and said it is as though he
is getting favors from the City.
