Regular Council Page 5 October 10, 1978 Mr. Bill Dorn said didn't ask support on just any clinic it was a par- ticular clinic. He opposes the medical clinic and feels people are generally in favor of the dental clinic~ Mr. Ron Jankowski stated they had originally wa~ted to build there but was discouraged by the mayor and Councilman Muller. Councilman Muller stated then he was not turned down at all by him~ but was told it would be awfully difficult and he could try, Mr. Ed Klemish stated he felt there was no sense in having it too close to Anoka that we need the business in our City. Ms. Loretta Ferrett felt it would be a terrific asset as far as looks go -- a bank and store on one side and a clinic across the street~ Mr. Rick Soule stated we shouldn't have business too close to Anoka. He lives close to Elk River and shops in Elk River and feels if business is placed too far away to make it worthwhile to shop in Ramsey then he will continue to shop in Elk River. Mr. Ed Klemish stated he has always heard so much talk about the City of Ramsey and he wants to see the City of Ramsey~ Mr. Jim Edwards, Jr. stated the location of a business is not important as is the way business is run. If you are treated well you will continue to go there. Motion by Councilman Mickelson and seconded by Councilman ~uller to approve the rezoning request of Dr. T. W. Anderson for the placement of a dental clinic on the Planning and Zoning recommendation and upon adopting finding of fact. Mayor Cox stated at this time he doesn't feel the questions have been an- swered well enough. Mr. Steve Schmitt said that the Comprehensive Plan not addressed at the public hearing everything must be taken into consideration. Peoples needs are always cha~ging and ~he peoples needs should be considered over the Met Council. Councilman Mickelson stated the Met Council required our development plan and an okay from them was to be within three months~ He feels they don't even know where our Comprehensive Plan is as it is probably in someone's wastebasket. Councilman Reimann stated the area south of 153rd would be serviced by sewer first and the Met Council would help in servicing that area. Councilman Mickelson feels the Met Council doesn't know where Ramsey is. Mayor Cox stated he feels if we allow this we are opening the door for others to do same.
