MINNESOTA 55303
612-441-6818

a'anuary 12, 1983

The Honorable Tom Gamec, 1.~yor
City of Ramsey
15153 Nowthen Boulevard
Ramsey, idinnesota 55303

S~bject: Snowplow Damage

Dear J~r. i~yor:

This letter is to advise that on Thursday, December 30, 1982,
a snowplow from the City of Ramsey damaged a couple of posts
at the entrance to our driveway. I reported this to Merle
l,ievissen, but was told they were probably too close to the
road. He said that the City would not be responsible for
snowplow ~amage.

As a point of information, these posts have never been damaged
in the four (4) years we have lived here and-they were installed
before we bought the property. These posts are at the edge of
the culvert under the driveway and if the wing blade had not
hit the posts, it would have damaged the culvert. It looked to
me like the operator was trying to wing the snow all the way
back to the centerline of the bottom of the drainage ditch.

The day this incident occured, it was clear, the sun was
shining, the ~riveway had been shoveled out, and the drive
had been scraped. Snow piles on each.side of the drive were
quite high. The operator could see that'he was coming up on
a driveway.

I am asking that the City consider replacing these damaged posts
next summer. Please advise.

Sincerely yours,
James D. Ac ers

JDA:ka

I
