This cost is a "not to exceed" figure and the actual
cost would be billed on an hourly Basis.

The proposed vertical control system would cover the main highways',
plus some east-west streets to close the network as shown on the
attached map. The approximate length of the system is fifteen (15)
miles.

I
I
I
I
I
I
I

It is proposed to place or establish bench marks at average intervals
of 500 to 600 feet. The maximum spacing would not exceed 1,000 feet.
It is also proposed to use Permanent structures such as building
foundations and concrete steps for bench marks. In c~ses where no
structures are present, railroad spikes would be placed in power poles
or two inch (2") iron pipes would be driven into the.ground six feet
(6'). Use of power poles would be limited to not more than one-third
of the bench marks.

The accuracy of the bench marks in feet would be plus or minus 0.05
times the square root of the'distance in miles which is considered
excellent leveling for important city bench marks or for the principal
bench marks on extensive surveys. All bench marks would be based on
the U.S. Geological Survey Datum.

Upon completion of the veritcal control survey, we would prepare a
book listing the location and elevation of all the bench marks. This
vertical control network will be a valuable tool for engineers, developers
and city building officials during the construction of utilities and ''
during the development of the urban area.

I

civil · municipal · planning · soils · land surveying
