State <br />law ~llows local-governmental units with areas proposed as "preferred areas." <br />to propose an alternate area or areas within their jbri~diction for'the Waste <br />Management Board's consideration {Minnesota Statutes 1981, Section llSA.O9, subd.3). <br />If your local government is interested in proposing an alternate area to the <br />Waste Management Board, please contact Sharon Decker at the Board office before <br />February 1. <br /> <br />Following the public hearings the. Board will select the final "preferred areas" <br />for hazardous waste processing facilities in the Twin Cities area .in June 1983. <br />The Board is not limited in the number'of Metro "preferred areas" it can select, <br />and is expected to designate from five to ten final preferred areas. <br /> <br />We will remain in cOntact with you in the coming months, and urge you--should you <br />have further questions on this process--to contact the Board offices.
