Minnesota law requires all speed limit autho-
rizations to be based on such an investigation.

Good weather and road conditions are required for the collection
of some of the data for the study. In addition, we now have
several other studies pending. It is, therefore, likely there
will be some delay in completion of the 167th Avenue study, pos-
sibly until late spring. We will contact you as soon as the
necessary data has been collected to discuss possible speed zon-
ing alternatives.

Our records show that the current authorized speed limit for~
167th Avenue is 50 MPH, not 55 MPH as stated in the resolution.
If the road is now posted at 55 MPH, the authorized~50 MPH limit
(1976) might provide an interim measure that could be implemented
until the new study can be completed.

If you have questions or additional information pertaining to this
matter, please contact Ed Brown, 545-3761, Ext. 172, at this office.

Sincerely,

J.
