The'committee explained
the duties of this position and the proposed salary range as
covered in enclosure (1). Mr. Illg stated that this job would
require him to take a reduction in pay and he hadn't thought about
a salary cut. Consequently, he~would like to think about that if
he were offered the 'job.

After int&~viewingall the candidates, the committee reviewed their findings
and made the following recommendations:

1)

2)

Mr.' Mark Boos was the committee's first recommendation. It is
felt that this individual would best fit into this particular
job because of his work experience with the City on a part-time
basis and that he could better adjust to the difference in pay
from a light equipment operator and'a heavy equipment operator
when they are both doing the same jobs. This was also the Public
Works Superintendent and City Administrator's recommendation.

Mr. John Dunham'was~the committeeJs-secon~hoice~_~This_ individual's
resume and interview indicated that he is a very fine person and he
did indicate that he wouldn't object to taking a cut in sa!ary;tpro-
viding he could find a job that would offer security such as this
position. He also stated that he could adjust to the difference
in pay between a light equipment operator and a heavy equipment
operator when they would be doing the same work.

The committee only recommended two choices to the Council. The Other four
individuals were fine men, however, they were not recommended for the follow-
ing reasons:

1)

Mr. Kenneth Daly indicated that he would have to take a salary cut
to accept this position and he didn't really want to leave his
present job. but he was concerned that he might get laid off because
of a slowdown and the economic condition in the State.

2)

Mr. Stone was not as experienced as the first and second choices
and maybe would need more experience in the field-before considera-
tion.

Personnel Committee/May 2, 1983
