I

I
I
I
I

TO:

FROM:

RE:

DATE:

Mayor and Councilmembers

City Administrator

Burning at the Hanson Tree Farm

May 25, 1983

On Tuesday morning, May 24, 1983, Mr. Doug Freeby, Anoka Fire Marshall,
accompanied me at my request to review the Hanson Tree Farm in regards to
the complaints we have received from some citizens about the danger that
is involved when Mr. Hanson burns dead trees and brush.

It is'quite obvious from the very onset when visiting the above area that
there should never be any burning allowed in the vicinity. The Hanson Tree
Farm and the adjoining residential property is really just a big pine forsst
which makes it a very dangerous area for fires, even in the best of non-fire
conditions.

I have invited Mr. Doug Freeby to be at the Council meeting to point out to
Council the serious danger in allowing the continuing of burning at the Hanson
Tree Farm. Also, there are other protective measures the City of Ramsey should
enact to protect the citizens in the area. Mr. Freeby will cover these at the
meeting.

We will have pictures of this area and Mr. Freeby wil also have some slides
showing how serious of a fire hazard the area is to the residents who live
there.

LGS:pjc
