PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS

I
I
I

Since the present street and drainage system can provide an operational street
and drainage system with some modifications, it is our recommendation that the
present ru~at street section be maintained in a portion of the project area.
In areas where erosion is a concern and where ditches have been filled, it is
proposed to construct bituminous berms along the streets in order to keep the

I
I
I

storm water in the street. This would limit the disruption to the abutting
property and minimize the costs of the improvement.

STREET IMPROVEMENT

The existing streets are proposed to be graded and shaped to accommodate a

I
I

minimum street width of 26 feet. The rural streets would be paved 24 feet wide
with a variable shoulder of one foot (l') wide as shown on Exhibit B. The
streets paved with bituminous berms would be constructed to a minimum width of
28 feet as shown on Exhibit C.

The street sections proposed would be narrower than the City of Ramsey's
requirements for new street construction but would minimize disruption to the
adjacent lots during construction since the street width proposed generally
follows the present street section width. If any restoration along the street
is required, it is proposed that this work be completed by the property owners.

I
"1
I

The street sections proposed, as shown on Exhibits B and C, consists of a three
inch (3") gravel base with a minimum l-l/2" bituminous surface. These sections
are equivalent to a 5-ton design in accordance with the Minnesota Department of
Transporation specifications. This street section has been used successfully

I
!
