REPORT ON FEASIBLITY STUDY
FOR
157TH AVENUE N.W. BETWEEN ARMSTRONG BOULEVARD & VARIOLITE STREET
BITUMINOUS STREET PAVING

SCOPE

The purpose of this study is to determine the feasibility of providing
bituminous streets to serve the above referenced area. This report further
provides a cursory review of the existing drainage system within the project area.

The project area lies within the Southwest Quarter of Section 16 and the
Northwest Quarter of Section 21, Range 25 West, Township 32 North, City of
Ramsey, Anoka County, Minnesota.

The project area lies between Armstrong Boulevard and Variolite Street N.W.

The project area is shown on Exhibit A.

EXISTING CONDITIONS

The present street is sand surfaced approximately 28 to 30 feet in width. An
inspection of the area revealed that the ditches are non-existent or inadequate
along the street. Therefore, storm water runoff ponds in the low areas along
the street or on the street percolating into the soil.

PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS

Since the present street is inadequate in cross-section paving either as a
rural street or a suburban street, it is our recommendation that a suburban
street section be used. This would eliminate the need for culverts, limit the
disruption to the abutting property and minimize the costs of the improvement.~

-1-
