"Djstrlbution Pipes" are perforated pipes or agricultural drain t~]es that are used to d~strtbute sewage tank effluent ~n a soil treatment system. Perforated pipe used for distribution p~pes shall have one (1) or more rows of holes of no more than one-half (1/2) inch Jn diameter spaced no more than thirty-six (36) inches apart. Holes shall be spaced to prevent bearing capacity of not less than eight hundred (800)' pounds per linear foot. I I I I I I I I I ' ' ].3. "Distribution Device" is a device which is used to distrib- ute sewage tank effluent to the distribution pipes, including but not ]~m~ted to distribution boxes, drop boxes, and valve boxes. 14. "Dosing Device" (or pump pit or wet well) is a tank or separate compartment following the sewage tank which serves as a reser- voir for the dosing device. 15. "Drainfield" is also called tile disposal field or soil absorption field and uses distribution pipes placed in favorable soil so that sewage from the septic tank can percolate through and into the soil. 16. "Dwelling" is any building or place used or intended to be used by human occupants as a single-family or two-family unit. 17. "Filter Material" is clean rock, crushed igneous rock, or similar ~nso]uble, durable, and decay-resistant material free from dust, sand, s~lt, or clay. The size shall range from one and one-fourth (]-]/4) ~nch minimum diameter to two and one-half (2-1/2) inches effect- ive diameter, 18. "]{o]ding Tank" is a watertight tank for storage of sewage until it can be transported to a point of approved disposal. 19. "Impermeable", with regard to soils, is a soil horizon or layer having a vertical permeability less than one (1) inch in twenty-four (24) hours and shall be considered impermeable. 20. "Individual Sewage Treatment System" is a sewage treatment system, or part thereof, serving a dwelling or other small living or business unit, or group thereof, which utilizes subsurface soil treat- ment and d~sposal. 2].. "La~m Area" is the area bounded by the dimensions required for the proper location of the soil treatment area. 22. "Mottling" is a zone of chemical oxidation and reduction activity appearing as splotchy patches of red, brown, orange, and gray. I I 23.
