The top <br />shall be provided with an inspection pipe of not less than four (4) <br />inch diameter extending to a point flush with finished ground level. <br />The top of the inspection pipe shall be provided with a readily remov- <br />able watertight cap. <br /> <br />Subd', '4 IiOI.,DING T/W'~S <br /> <br />Holding tanks may be allowed only as replacements for existing non- <br />conforming urban service area systems and only where it can conclusive- <br />ly be shown that a standard or approved alternative system cannot be <br />feasibly installed, or where holding tanks can be demonstrated to be <br />more economical than alternative systems. <br /> <br />CONSTRUCT I ON <br /> <br />A ho]ding tank shall be constructed of the same materials and by the <br />same procedures as those specified for watertight septic tanks, except <br />that there be no outlet pipe. <br /> <br /> ACCESS _ <br /> <br />A c]eanout pipe of at least six (6) inches diameter shall extend to the <br />ground surface and be provided with seals to prevent odor and to exclude <br />insects and vermin. A manhole of at least twenty (20) inches in dimen- <br />sion shall extend to a point within twelve (12) inches, but no closer <br />than six (6) inches, below finished grade. The manhole cover shall be <br />covered with at least six (6) inches of earth. <br /> <br />DEPTH OF BURY <br /> <br />The tank shall be protected against flotation under highwater table <br />conditions. <br /> <br />CAPACITY <br /> <br />For a dwelling, the size shall be two thousand (2,000) gallons or four <br />hundred (400) gallons times the number of bedrooms, whichever is great- <br />est. For permanent structures other than dwellings, the capacity shall <br />be based on measured flow rates or estimated flow rates. The tank capa- <br />city shall be at least five (5) times the daily flow rate. <br /> <br />LOCAT] ON <br /> <br />tlold:ing tanks shall be located: <br /> <br />a. In an area readily accessible to the pump truck <br /> under all weather conditions; <br />b. As specified for septic tanks; <br /> c. I~ere accidental spillage during pumping will not <br /> create a nuisance. <br /> <br /> <br />
