However, Well No. 1-A showed an increase in nitrates and a decrease in <br />pH. The level of nitrates exceeded EPA's Primary Drinking Water Standard by 50 <br />percent. The decrease in pH indicates that the water from Well No. 1-A is <br />corrosive. <br /> <br />The increase in the nitrates and the decrease in the pH may be temporary or the <br />result of a contaminated sample.
