PROCEEDINGS OF CITY COUNCIL <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />i <br />i <br />i <br />I <br /> <br />A special meeting of the Ramsey City Council was held on Monday, June 13, <br />1983 at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, <br />Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec <br />Councilmember Jean Schlueter <br />Councilmember Gary Reimann <br />Councilmember Sue Van Wagner <br />Councilmember A1Sorteberg <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Building Official Clayton Berg <br />City Administrator Lloyd Schnelle <br />Reporter Carolyn Thompson <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the meeting to order at 5:04 p.m. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that the purpose of this meeting was to discuss <br />Dickenson's proposed building as there is a problem with the uniform <br />building code. <br /> <br />George Carlson of Dickenson Lines presented profiles of the proposed <br />building and stated that South Side Lumber would be the contractor and <br />architectural drawin§s were subcontracted to William F. Gage and Associates. <br />Mr. Carlson explained dimensions-, type of construction and planned us.age. <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that without architect's plans and specifications to <br />review Council cannot approve. Council would also l~ke to be sure that <br />the building would meet the uniform buildi.ng code and State requirements <br />and Council's major concern is for fire protection. Mayor Gamec also noted <br />that everyone would like to see Dickenson~s expansion take place in Ramsey. <br /> <br />Mr. Carlson stated that the interior walls would be fully insulated and <br />sheetrocked and that the architects will'put their stamp of approval on <br />the building structurally. <br /> <br />City Administrator Schnelle stated that the City does not dare get involved <br />with granting variances to building codes, that the City and Dickenson <br />Lines could be held liable. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec pointed out that Dickenson Lines could be money ahead building <br />according to code when they consider energy efficiency and insurance rates. <br />Mayor Gamec reiterated that if the building could meet State codes, then <br />an agreement could be worked out with the City. <br /> <br />Building Official Clayton Berg noted that the specs and plans could be sent <br />to the State Code Office for their review and there is a charge for that <br />service. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec suggested that Mr. Carlson point out to the architects that State <br />Codes for the seven county Metro area have tobe met and he also noted that <br />Council i~s willing to hold more special meetings to resolve this. <br /> <br />Sp C/June 13, 1983 <br /> Page I of 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
