I <br />I <br />! <br />I <br />I <br />! <br />I <br /> <br />PROCEEDINGS OF CITY COUNCIL <br /> PUBLIC HEARING <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />A public hearing regarding Sealcoating Improvement Project #83-11 for <br />Menkveld's Unplatted Area was called to order by Mayor Gamec at 8:33 p.m. <br />on Tuesday, June 14, 1983 at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen <br />Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: Mayor Thomas Gamec <br /> Councilmember A1 Sorteberg <br /> Councilmember Gary Reimann <br /> Councilmember Jean Schlueter <br /> Councilmember SUe Van Wagner <br />Also Present: City Engineer Raatikka <br /> <br />City Engineer Raatikka made a slide presentation of the proposed project. <br /> <br />Dale Nelson - 16540 Yttrium - Agreed that the road is in need of repair <br />and couldn't the City use monies saved from less grading to sealcoat. <br />Stated that sealcoating should be taken out of taxes so the resident can <br />see some benefit from the tax dollars paid. <br /> <br />Paul Menge - 16321 Yttrium - Stated that when he bought his home there <br />was a gravel road and by the time the sale closed there was blacktop and <br />he also missed the option to have his driveway paved at the same time. <br />When streets were blacktopped they were told sealcoating was necessary <br />every 8 - 10 years. People at Council table should consider the people <br />when spending the people's money. Council is trying to bring~the city to <br />the country. Do not feel the street is in need of sealcoatin9 at this time. <br />Can't see paying money to sealcoat a road he didn't want in the first place. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec replied that the residents of that area petitioned for that <br />blacktop. <br /> <br />'1 <br /> <br />Mr. Menge inquired why the money saved in grading gravel roads couldn't <br />be used for sealcoating blacktop roads. <br /> <br />I <br />I' <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec replied that the money saved does not even cover the raise in <br />normal city operation costs due to inflation. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Reimann and seconded by Councilmember Schlueter <br />to adjourn the public hearing. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Sorteberg, Schlueter, <br />Reimann and Van Wagner.
