I I I I i I I I I I I I !, I I Mrs. Steinhauser - 6320 163rd Lane NW - Stated that at the public hearing for blacktop, the residents were informed that sealcoating is required every 8-10 years. Mayor Gamec replied that was the comment made when blacktopping initiated in Ramsey because he was not familiary with blacktop maintenance. The need for sealcoating cannot be predicted. Mrs. Steinhauser inquired if the issue could be brought to a vote of the citizens.-' 'Mayor Gamec replied that it could not, that Council was elected to make decisions in the best interest of all. Mrs. Steinhauser inquired why street maintenance isn't included in tax dollars. Mayor Gamec replied that taxes would have to be raised tremendously and Ramsey falls under levy limits which would require a special referendum to increase taxes that much. Ron Hetland inquired as to how close the City. estimates are to the actual bids that come in. Mr. Raatikka stated that the City tends to estimate on the high side of actual figures that come in. Mayor Gamec stated that if the bids come in more£han 25% higher than the City's estimate, the City is required to conduct another public hearing. Mayor Gamec stated that this Council would consider reconducting a public hearing if the bids came in even 15% higher than the City's estimate. ADJOURNMENT Motion by Councilmember Reimann and seconded by Councilmember Schlueter to adjourn the public hearing. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Sorteberg, Reimann, Schlueter and Van Wagner. Voting No: None.
