Commission should be appointed to
study the issue, that if no action is taken the airport will close down.
Chairman Greenberg also stated-that.he has been informed by VoTec that if
improvements are not made to the existing airport, VoTec will relocate a year
from now. Chairman Greenberg no~ed that the airport does need hard surfaced
runways, because the current runways cause damage to airplanes. Chairman
Greenberg stated that he is reluctant to advertise an airport in the Ramsey
Brochure considering it's present condition.

Commissioner Schneider stated that the proposed Airport Commission would
prepare a study regarding costs and action required by Ramsey to turn the
airport into a real asset for Ramsey. Commissioner Schneider noted that the
airport is of value to some businessmen in Ramsey and also to prospective
Ramsey businessmen.

Mayor Gamec stated that the current manager of the airport is interested in
erecting a building for showroom/storage purposes of ultra-lights. Mayor
Gamec stated that there would be problems getting State support for the
airport and going into City funds would present even more of a problem.
Mayor Gamec then inquired as to the possibility of a private corporation
taking over the airport.

Chairman Greenberg stated that the airport is licensed public, it is used
greatly by the public but it is the type of public that does not bring
any revenues into the airport.. If the airport is licensed private, you
would lose the objective of the airport.

Motion by Commissioner Schneider and seconded by Commissioner Fults to
recommend the forming of an Airport Commission.

Motion carried.
