Schnelle, City Administrator

RE:

Worker Compensation Policy #WC-9875229
Employee C].aim: Richard Buchite
Date of Loss: February, 1981
Claim Number: 351-C-686393

Dear Lloyd:

You have posed the question as to what the payment of the above captioned
claim will mean in terms of your future worker compensation premiums. First
of all, the way the insurance is written, you are in a large pool with many
other cStSes as to the dividend paying program. The advantage of being in a
large group is that if one insured should have a large loss in any one year,
it will no~ usually affect that group significantly.

In this particular case, the loss on the above captioned is already in your
experience rating with ~ incurred loss of $25,577.00 and $7,617.00 is used
as the primary actual loss for rating purposes. This gives you an experience
modification of 1.04. Since your prior experience had been .82, your policy
is charged approximately 20% or $2,200.00 for this particular loss. This
loss will be computed over the next two years in your experience modification,
but since you have had good experience before and after this claim, the
experience modification will go down quickly and will not be a significant
factor in additional premium beyond the policy year of 9-19-81 to 9-19-82,
and for this coming year of 9-19-82 to 9-19-83.

My recomrncndation would be that the best disposition of this case is to have
the Home Insurance Company make the final payment, which they have done and
verified ~n their letter to you dated September 8, 1982, from Mr. R. A.
L]ewellyn of ~he Itome Insurance Company.

As for the prospects of this happening again, one cannot anticipate what the
Future will bring. However, we can have some control over the future, by
setting up requirements as Far as the hiring of new employees and the reviewing
