I

I
I
I
I
I

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

Mr. I,]oyd G. Schnelle, City of Ramsey

Page 2

September 10, 1982

of current employees concerning their physical health and ability to do
their ,jobs.

It wou]d be my recommendation that anybody that is hired as a new employee,
as part of the procedure, would have to have a physical examination. This
would give you their current physical status at the time you hire them,
plus would ~'cfcr'ence for the future. As far as current employees, I would
reco, lmcnd that, depending upon the job, that physicals be given at least
evc~ eight(mn months in the case of ]aboring type jobs, such as on street
and roads. Also, the Police Department should definitely have physicals
at ]east every eighteen months.

As far as the other employees, it would appear a physical given at least
once cw:ry twenty-four months to thirty months would be sufficient. By .'
having physical examinations required, you will be able to detect problems
as they arise, rather than have to pay after the fact. This would be my
recommendation to the Council to require all physical exams for new employees
to bc hired, and to have physical exams for current employees on the basis
d~scusscd above.

If I can be of any further assistance to you, or the City Council, please
feel free to cai1 me.

Thank you.

Sincerely yours,

INSURANCE SERVICE CENTER

NLC/df
