I

I

I

I
I
I
I
I

10/6/82

Mayor Gamec advised me that he met with Mr. George Steiner, Mr. Tim
Yantos, Mr. Jerry Dulgar and one of the Assistant County Attorneys
which the County said is the committee established by the County
Board at its 9/28/82 meeting. Mr. Steiner said the committee's
only purpose was to discuss the liability problem the County would
encounter if it included the existing site as a part of Site P.
Mayor Gamec said the County would not discuss any other matters
relating to the inclusion of the existing site in Site P. This
is totally contrary to the impression I had of the direction given
to the committee by the County Board on 9/28/82. There would
appear to be a serious gap between what the County Board says at
a public meeting and what staff actually undertakes after the
public meeting - at least as to the Site P selection process.

9/18/82

Mayor Gamec, City Administrator Schnelle and I met to review the
various matters. We called Mr. George Steiner and Commissioner
Fields to try to find out why the landfill committee seemed so
limited in its scope. We received no answer to our question;
Commissioner Fields agreed to call the County Attorney about this
subject.

9/21/82

Drafted letter to Commissioner Edward Fields for Mayor Gamec's
signature relating to the landfill committee's duties.

Throughout the month, City Engineer Raatikka, City Administrator Schnelle,
City Assessor Wirz and I have met and worked on the landfill impact study
which we hope to have completed shortly amd presented to you.

I

WKG:pjc

I

I

I
