It is what's expected of you. <br /> <br />City Administrator Schnelle stated that when the economy is up, government is <br />down. The City falls behind in the good years and has to catch up in the bad. <br />He stated that he's here to see that we have a good work force. We have an <br />excellent Staff at the present and we want to guarantee that we'll be able to <br />keep these people. <br /> <br />Councilman Sorteberg stated that while he realizes that the Ramsey Staff is <br />efficient, he feels the cost of living increase could be pared down. He stated <br />that it seems that Stanton is setting salaries for the Cities. <br /> <br />City Administrator Schnelle stated that everyone refers to something and that <br />all Stanton is doing is compiling a list of salary ranges for the Metro area <br />Cities. He stated that he is not here to spend the City's money but rather to <br />compensate the employees for the job they're turning out. We could be hiring <br />more people, stacking them up and costing the City more money. <br /> <br />Building Official Berg asked Councilman Reimann if his pay increased when his <br />workload increased. <br /> <br />Councilman Reimann stated that it did. <br /> <br />Building Official Berg said ~hat when the City"s workload increases, the pay <br />doesn't and bad times seem to make for more work at the City Hall. <br /> <br />Councilman Sorteberg stated that he can swallow the adjustments but he doesn't <br />think the cost of living will amount to 7%. He feels that 5% is more realistic. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilman Sorteberg and seconded by Councilman Reimann to recommend <br />the salary adjustments as presented plus a 5% cost of living increase. Further, <br />that in June of 1983, the Council Personnel Committee will review the economy <br />and adjust the cost of living accordingly~ Motion carried. <br /> <br />Building ,Official Berg asked if the cost of living would be the same for all <br />employees, <br /> <br />Councilman Reimann stated that it would, <br /> <br />Councilman Reimann then questioned the salaries of part-time City ~mployeesl <br /> <br />This was discussed and a motion was made by Councilman Reimann and seconded by <br />Councilman Sorteberg to recommend pay for part-time City employees as presented <br />with the exception of drivers and assistants. The driver's salary will be raised <br />to $10.00 per hour while the assistants will receive $8.00 per hour. If the <br />assistant is licensed to drive, he will also receive $10.00 per hour. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />There was a lengthy discussion on health insurance. <br /> <br />The Personnel Committee felt that there was a possibility of paying the unused <br />dollars between the cost of the family plan and the individual plan to the <br />employee. <br /> <br />Personnel Committee <br /> P e <br /> <br /> <br />
