Pac~e 12
July 2, 19B2

Grant Township {Site E--Demolition Debrisl

This site is located on County Rd. 12 in the western part of Grant Township
near Mahtomedi. The site is located in a rural..residential area of Grant Town-
ship and ad,iacent to developing suburban areas of Mahtomedi. Upon closure, the
site area could be developed in a wa.v that would make it compatible with the
surrounding land use. Access and transportation-related impacts could present
nuisance and safety problems with existing and future development. Mahtomedi
High School is 80~ feet west of the site. It is recommended that the county
evaluate, as a part of further studies, traffic-related impacts and alternative
routes to the facilit.v. Police, fire, emerqency and other services appropriate
to land disposal facilities can be fairly easily provided to the site. Surface
water and groundwater appear to be adequately protected.

The staff recommends approval of Site E for the disposal of demolition debris.
Washington County is further evaluating areas for additional suitable sites.

The public meetings held by the Council earlier this year were intended to be
the primary means for local officials and citizens to voice concerns and offer
additional information that the Council could use in making a decision about
the proposed sites. However, if .you want to make additional comments and
present new information, you may do so at the upcoming meetings mentioned above--
preferably early in the process, at the advisory committee's meetings.

For further information about the meetings, please call the Council's Public
Information Office at 291-6464. Copies of the complete staff report containing
evaluations and recommendations on the sites are available by calling the same
number.

If you have questions about the Council staff recommendations for sites
proposed by Anoka, Dakota, and Ramsey Counties, please call Lynne Takemoto at
29t-6412. For recommendations on Hennepin, Scott, and Washington County sites,
call Paul Smith at 291-6408.

Sincerely,

Charles Weaver
Chairman

No. 12-82-069
