July 7, 1982

TO: Ac~ninistrator Lloyd Schnelle

FRO~: Chief Mike Auspos

RE: Permit to Armstrong Kennels for shooting

Chuck and Loral I. Delaney are planning a Gamefair activity for
Labor Day weekend, Sept. 3, 4, 5, & 6, 1982 and Loral I. approached
me about some sort of waiver or variance for trapshooting on Eddy
Lake, located on their property.

Technically, there are buildings within 500 yards of the shooting
points located on the lake, but they are Armstrong Kennel buildings.
From what I understand of the situation, all firing will be shotguns
with trap or skeet load and the general firing direction will be to
the West from the East shore of Eddy Lake..or, at the most, 30~ either
side of due West and into the General Mi[Is area. It may even be that
all shotfall will be into Armstrong property.

As long as there is no firing of rifled or smoothbore weapons using
slugs or bullets, I can see no problems with granting a variance or
waiver for the necessary period. For their own protection, however,
and possibly the city's, they should consider posting a border guard
or two in the downrange area to keep out persons who might go into
that area, especially children, during the-time(s) that shooting is
going on.

Mike A.
