I
I

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

April 7, 1982

Mr. Edward F. Fields, Chairman
Anoka County Board of Commissioners
15421 Round Imke Blvd.
Anoka, MN 55303

Dear Ed:

As a long time citizen and an elected official of the City of Ramsey, I am
extremely concerned that Alternative ~3 for the Rum River Bridge Crossing
becomes a reality.

You and I both know that the above bridge crossing is one of %he most
critical issues facing the people of this community and the surrounding
communities if we are considering the safety factor of human lives. We
both know that currently, emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire
trucks may not always be able to serve Ramsey because of trains blocking
their passage at the railroad crossings.

Further, we both know that all the school buses have to cross the railroad
crossings to serve the total community. If we ever have an accident where
we have a school bus involved, we will have the wrath of those parents on
us and rightfully so if we are guilty of dragging our feet on such a ter-
ribly critical issue.

I realize that some citizens in the adjoining communities are opposed to
the above crossing. This really amazes me how people can put material
things before a human life. However, I guess this is where we elected
officials have to stand up and be counted when it comes to the human life
factor. Accordingly, this happens to be one of those issues, Ed. As you
might expect, we are going to depend on you for your support on this issue.
We know that we also will have it on this type of an issue.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Arnold Cox
17705 Nowthen Blvd. NW
Ramsey, MN 55303
