The goals of the policy plan are to meet federal water quality
standards, and to meet the regional sewer service needs of the Metropolitan
Area to the year 2000.

This document represents one portion of what will ultimately be a two-part plan
on water resources management. This plan deals with "point" sources of water
pollution,.specifieally sewage treatment plants and on-site disposal systems.
The second part, still in preparation, deals with "nonpoint" sources, such as
stormwater and snow melt runoff that carries pollutants into the Region's
rivers~ lakes and streams.

Additional copies of this plan can be obtained from the Council's Public
Information Office by calling 291-6464.

I hope the guide will prove useful to you.
