Schnelle <br /> <br />Staff Report for March 1982 <br /> <br />1) Legislation - The following is hereby submitted on this item: <br /> <br />a) <br /> <br />Imgislation regarding Workers' Compensation Law - After the Economic <br />Development Commission meeting, we prepared a number of letters that <br />were sent to key Legislators on this issue. Please refer to Enclosure <br />(C-l) for the letters that were sent out. <br /> <br />b) <br /> <br />City of Ramsey's legal battle in regards to the discrimination that <br />is shown by the State Statute that distributes local government aid <br />to Cities - The following things have happened in this case: <br /> <br />(1) <br /> <br />The State's Attorney has replied to our case that we filed <br />against the State of Minnesota and they stated we don't <br />have a case. Please refer to letter from Mr. Richard S. <br />Slowes of the Attorney General's office dated February 25, <br />1982 which is contained in Enclosure (C-l). <br /> <br />(2) <br /> <br />Letter from Mr. Rosow of Lang, Pauly & Gregerson dated <br />March 5, 1982 to the City of Ramsey regarding the meeting <br />we had with them on March 5, 1982. I have accomplished <br />all of the things they requested on this case. Please <br />refer to Enclosure (C-l) for this letter. <br /> <br />(3) <br /> <br />Letter from Mr. Gregerson of Lang, Pauly & Gregerson dated <br />March 5, 1982 and City Attorney Goodrich's endorsement <br />letter dated March 16, 1982. The purpose of this letter <br />is to give the City a status report on our case. Please <br />refer to Enclosure (C-l) for these letters. <br /> <br />(4) <br /> <br />City Administrator's memo dated March 17, 1982 to Mr. Richard <br />Rosow of the Lang, Pauly & Gregerson law firm via City <br />Attorney Goodrich. This memo with all its enclosures and <br />exhibits were delivered by the City Attorney to Mr. Rosow <br />on March 18, 1982. The City Attorney has reviewed all the <br />contents contained in the above memo and its enclosures <br />and exhibits and also has a complete set of them for his <br />files. A copy of the above memo is provided for Council- <br />members in Enclosure (C-l) of this agenda. Our City Attorney <br />thinks we have well-documented our case in the above memo. <br /> <br />(5) <br /> <br />Meeting with City Administrator and Mr. Mel Kaasa, former <br />Mayor of Lake Crystal on March 11, 1982 at the State Audi- <br />tor's office in St. Paul. (The State allowed us to use <br />his conference room which was extremely decent of Mr. Carl- <br />son.) We spent about three hours reviewing documents for <br />this case. <br /> <br /> <br />
