IS COMI]~G TO TO~'~ Governor A1 Quie will meet with residents of the Anoka Champlin area to d5scuss the new direction for state government at an open-to-the-public town meeting Tuesday, February 16, in the Commissioners' Room of the Anoka I I County Court Itouse on East Main Street in Anoka. gjnong those who will participate in the town meeting will be State Representative John Weaver, Governor's Aide Robert Renner, Governor's Aide I I I Grace Lauro (resident of Champlin), Anoka County Attorney Robert W. Johnson and District 11 Superintendent of Schools Lewis W. Finch. The Governor will outline his six major legislative initiatives for 1982 that have been introduced as legislative proposals in the current legislative session. Those initiatives are (1) stimulation of the Minnesota job climate; (2) increased local discretion in funding Minnesota schools; (3) improvements in the relationship between state and local units of government; (4) elimination and modification of mandates on local units of government and schools; (5) changes in the Public Employees Labor Relations Act to improve the bargaining process and insure care for residents of state institutions; and (6) a stronger program to remove drinking drivers from our public roadways. The Anoka meeting is one of a series of town meetings the Governor has scheduled throughout the State of Minnesota. The town meeting will begin with a statement by the Governor, followed by questions from local residents. The Anoka meeting is scheduled from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. in the County Board Room of the Anoka County Court House, 325 East ~in Street, Anoka. The Governor will meet the press at 7:15 p.m. preceding the town meeting in the Press Room of the Court ~ouse adjacent to the County Board Room.
