IS COMI]~G TO TO~'~ <br /> <br />Governor A1 Quie will meet with residents of the Anoka Champlin area <br /> <br />to d5scuss the new direction for state government at an open-to-the-public <br />town meeting Tuesday, February 16, in the Commissioners' Room of the Anoka <br /> <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />County Court Itouse on East Main Street in Anoka. <br /> <br /> gjnong those who will participate in the town meeting will be State <br />Representative John Weaver, Governor's Aide Robert Renner, Governor's Aide <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />Grace Lauro (resident of Champlin), Anoka County Attorney Robert W. Johnson <br />and District 11 Superintendent of Schools Lewis W. Finch. <br /> <br /> The Governor will outline his six major legislative initiatives for <br />1982 that have been introduced as legislative proposals in the current <br />legislative session. Those initiatives are (1) stimulation of the Minnesota <br /> <br />job climate; (2) increased local discretion in funding Minnesota schools; (3) <br />improvements in the relationship between state and local units of government; <br />(4) elimination and modification of mandates on local units of government and <br />schools; (5) changes in the Public Employees Labor Relations Act to improve <br />the bargaining process and insure care for residents of state institutions; <br /> <br />and (6) a stronger program to remove drinking drivers from our public roadways. <br /> <br /> The Anoka meeting is one of a series of town meetings the Governor has <br />scheduled throughout the State of Minnesota. The town meeting will begin with <br />a statement by the Governor, followed by questions from local residents. <br /> <br /> The Anoka meeting is scheduled from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. in the County <br /> <br />Board Room of the Anoka County Court House, 325 East ~in Street, Anoka. <br /> <br /> The Governor will meet the press at 7:15 p.m. preceding the town meeting <br />in the Press Room of the Court ~ouse adjacent to the County Board Room. <br /> <br /> <br />
